Centellin CG

Centellin® - Concentration, Memory , Venous circulation, Healing, Cracked feet

Centellin and Centellin CG are two ranges of extracts from Centella asiatica (Gotu kola), sandardized in triterpenes (up to 40%), and in asiaticosides. Plant already well documented with objectivated extracts, both orally and topically.
  • Topical: the healing and anti-wrinkle effect is the best known, but Centellin CG is also used for skin irritation. Many studies exist on these applications. It strengthens hair follicles, nourish and moisturize scalp, strengthen blood vessels in areas that allow small hair follicles to expand.
A new study published has evaluated the efficacy and safety of a formulation with Centellin® CG in a foot care cream (CCFC) in the management of cracked heels through cell culture and human clinical studies.
  • Oral: Studies have shown that Centella extract improves attention, concentration and therefore memory (Centella asiatica is mentioned for the decrease in monoamines, involving Norepinephrine, Dopamine and the 5-HT system in the process. memorization and learning, therefore an increase in GABA neurotransmitters). Furthermore, Centella reduces lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the brain region.

Healing, Anti-wrinkle, cracked feet
Centellin® CG is standardized to 40% triterpenes.
The healing and anti-wrinkle effect is the best known, but Centellin® CG is also used for skin irritations. Many studies exist on these applications.
For cracked and chapped feet, Centellin CG shows beneficial effect on cell proliferation, collagen synthesis and dramatically improves wound healing in fibroblast scratch wound model. It also increased the hydration of the skin. The results show that CCFC helps heal cracks, reducing flaking and pain. None of the volunteers had a hypersensitivity reaction.
Centella asiatica extract would have been used effectively in the management of keloids, leg ulcers, phlebitis, slow-healing wounds, leprosy lesions, surgical lesions and cellulitis. The effects of Centella asiatica extract and its individual components were studied in monolayer cultures of human foreskin fibroblasts.
The extract increased collagen synthesis in a dose-dependent manner and the new collagen formed showed reduced specific activity.
The effects of Centella asiatica extract on skin healing in rats were evaluated using the oral and topical modes of administration. The extract was found to exert different actions at various phases of wound repair: The extract increased cell proliferation and collagen synthesis at the wound site (increased DNA content of proteins and collagen , granulation tissue). Wounds treated with the extract formed epithelial tissue faster and wounds contracted more in treated animals than in untreated controls.
The properties of Centella asiatica have also been used in the management of burns, scleroderma, gastrointestinal ulcers and chronic liver disease. Centella asiatica extract has been shown to increase the levels of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, vitamin E, and ascorbic acid in newly formed tissues, thus confirming its role in maintaining skin health.
La Centella is recommended for the regeneration of mature skin and for the management of scars (such as those used after plastic surgery). Products containing Centella asiatica extract are also used in the management of itchy skin and other skin irritations.

Centella - Gotu Kola: Terpensn saponins and asiaticosides

Centella asiatica, Gotu Kola, Tiger Grass or Hydrocotyle, is a herbaceous plant native to Asia and Oceania. It is used as a medicinal plant in Ayurvedic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, to treat dermatitis and to heal superficial wounds. It has also been used as a brain tonic.
Scientists link the curative action of this plant to the presence of asiaticosides and their derivatives. Centella extracts have been used topically as an adjunct in the treatment of surgical wounds and minor burns. They have also been used with success in the complementary treatment of ulcers in the legs (at the granulation stage). Centella extracts have also been used orally to improve lymphatic and venous circulation and thus promote wound healing. Its positive effects on circulation may be responsible for the herb's traditional use to improve brain function.
